Comments Thread For: Froch: I Beat Groves on My Worst Possible Night

IBF/WBA 'regular' super middleweight champion Carl Froch admitted that George Groves got under his skin prior to last November's fight. Froch abandoned his game plan in the ring and then attacked Groves with both hands swinging. It allowed Groves to drop him hard in the first round and then work him over until a controversial stoppage in the ninth round. Groves was ahead on all three of the official scorecards when the bout was stopped.

Carl will get eaten alive if he decides the best way to win is to box groves.
George hammered Carl and thoroughly out boxed him, it seems Carl didn't learn much after all!
The only chance Carl has is for a confident, over enthusiastic Groves to leave himself open or gamble on catching Groves late on . It doesn't look good for Carl , he's taking a fight the public want but deep down he knows he doesn't and to be using a sports psychologist only goes to show he can neither handle Groves on the safe side of the ropes. The more I see of this , the more I think Carl is in trouble and once those jabs and powerful right hands of Groves start to detonate on Froch's jaw again , I think we might just see some thing no Froch fan ever expected !
Carl's had a great career and Iv'e supported him many times but to hear him wind on about Groves's behaviour before the first fight is truly delusional, George was very matter of fact where as Carl was talking about George's bad breath and personal stuff....not looking good Carl!

This loss can tarnish Froch's reputation and all he has worked for all these years going in to people's back yards to earn his stripes. I hope he KOs Groves in mid rounds to make a statement and erase all doubts.

great post I completely agree with you.

I also have no idea how groves managed to get inside his head so much.

Maybe it show's that maybe froch is starting to doubt himself as I havnt seen him lose it like this ever.

groves has pretty much mind f**ked froch into counselling

If you agree that froch took groves lightly in first fight, I don't see how that shows groves got under froch's skin........

Also, froch's best bet is to box more from the get-go. Groves is faster so he would get the best of the exchanges.

But he gets slightly slower towards the end as he gets tired .

That's when froch will pile on the pressure.

Early rounds won't be as exciting as the first fight as groves will be looking to pace himself more.

Groves looked amateurish bouncing off the ropes swinging wildly!

Groves experience was very limited before the fight and it showed but he luck on side and stopped early before he got ko'ed

Groves don't react well to massive pressure
