Someone please help me out here. Cotto is smaller, slower, less athletic, hits with less power AND doesnt really have any big decisive wins in his entire career. He fought a VERY close fight with Clottey, a VERY close fight with a past it Mosley, got stopped by Margarito, stopped by Manny, lost lopsided to Floyd, lost lopsided to a feather fisted Trout, had a tough fight with Zab. What in his career leads anyone to believe he can win this? Honestly. Beating Paulie a lifetime ago? Beating Delvin? Meanwhile Sergio beat a lot of undefeated guys, stopped a Williams who would have destroyed Cotto (IMO), boxed the ears off of a massive Chavez Jr, beat Pavlik ect. Many of his recent wins are BIG stoppages. I'm lost here. His last fight could have went either way, but beyond that I see nothing pointing toward anything besides a complete destruction of Cotto.

I expect to see Cotto performing well all the way up to or between the times he's eating big shots. Things won't be so good for him when that is happening - or when that happens. I'd consider the possibility that he might prevail if Martinez wasn't so heavy handed. Cotto is one of the most skilled boxers on the planet. He'll give a decent accounting of himself - again, until he starts getting strafed with rocket fire. He'll be doing the Cotto Boogie when that time comes.

Only because he thinks Sergio is old and shot. When Sergio was in his prime Cotto wanted nothing of him.
And actually I did understand Cotto, because is obvious that Sergio was way too big and strong for Cotto and would have destroyed him.

Tell me when they could have fought before this? Tell me when this fight made economical sense to Cotto before now.

When Sergio wasnīt old and with bad injuries it never made sense because Sergio was too strong and big for Cotto. Cotto wasnīt ****** enough to fight Martinez at 160 lbs. A fight in junior middleweight could had happened, though. But at 160 lbs with Sergio in his prime? No way in hell.
Fighting Sergio made more economical sense than fighting Michael Jennings in the year 2009 IMO.
Anyway, as I said, I understand Cotto, he knows that Sergio would have literally destroyed him at 160 lbs when he was in his prime. Now Sergio is old and shot and Cotto is seizing his opportunity, I donīt blame Cotto at all.
But Cotto is not a good boxer at middleweight, he is not a big threat or a dangerous boxer at that weight and prime Sergio would have killed him 3 years ago.
