Size and power are Canelo fan s main argument.
Apart from that Alvarez has more dimensions to his game than Lara. Inside fighting is all Alvarez as Lara has shown he has zero knowledge of how to fight on the inside.

He's also very accurate with quick hands, fights with composure, and has shown improvement in his recent fights defensively with head and waist movement. He's good at setting up punches with feints or jabs and does a great job of controlling distance.

Saying that Lara is a better pure boxer, but Alavarez is more than capable of competing with him in the middle of the ring as he has a very underrated boxing ability. Lara is a pretty basic boxer, he's pretty good at what he does, but Alvarez has shown more dimensions to his game offensively and defensively to say you can't make a case for him winning.

Alvarez has more dimensions than Lara? I guess it depends on who you ask.

Canelo can box in the middle of the ring and is effective but Lara does this much better. Canelo needs to fight an inside dirty fight vs Lara then maybe he has a chance. Other than that he better hope his hard shots land and body work is effective from the outside.

            Great perspective.

Canelo did bounce around showing tremendous footwork vs Trout in the final rounds, you remember that? lol.

Lara is strictly an outside fighter with little variations offensively or defensively. He can't fight on the inside he simply shells up. Offensively t's basically always a one-two and rarely gives any different looks. A good fighter will be able to time him and learn his habits. I was shocked at how frequently Angulo landed that left hook, Lara simply had his hands down backing up straight.

Like I said he's a pretty basic fighter but he's really good at it so it hasn't really cost him yet.

              • Lara is a terrific fighter but I think he relies on his left hand too much, which is a great weapon don't get me wrong, and he's going to have to vary his attack in this fight. If you watch Lara often, you'll see his offense consists primarily of a jab followed by the left hand and will seldom attack the body or shoot the right hook. And very little uppercuts to boot. His right hook is actually very good and accurate and it's a punch I think he'll really need in this fight along with a right hook to the body.

If you think about it, he's sort of limited offensively in terms of punch selection but he makes up for it with his accuracy and timing. His left hand, be it set up by a jab or as a lead punch is extremely difficult to time. Also, Lara has great footwork, a tight defense, and good ring generalship when he needs to set the tempo. Canelo has the better offensive prowess; puts great combos together, attacks the body, and switches levels (body and head) more. Canelo is obviously the better in-fighter, which is a type of fight Lara will have to avoid at all costs. However, I think the intangibles that Lara posses will win him this match. Canelo has problems with movers and when he can't set to throw. If Lara can find the range for the left hand (straight or overhand) and control the distance it'll be very tough for Canelo to win this fight unless he's able to cut the ring off and nullify Lara's left.

I think a lot of my reason really is based on Canelo's recent in ring experiences. Another interesting factor is that neither man really throws more than each other. They throw and land almost identical in total punches, give and take 1-3%.

I think Lara will find that Canelo is a bit more than he expects. I think Canelo will show improvement as well, also the crisp, quick, and tight combinations will shock Lara and I think if Canelo throws the right combinations he can create the openings and I think he has enough power to eventually stop Lara.

Intelligent pressure and consistent upper body movement will really befriend Canelo but he has to keep it up and not just move his head for only 45 seconds a round
