Comments Thread For: Mike Tyson on Wilder, Jennings, American Heavyweights

It’s been nearly 20 years since Mike Tyson last wore a heavyweight belt around his waist and almost 25 years since he truly served as the baddest man on the planet. One constant that has stood the test of time, is his presence as one of the sport’s most identifiable figures.

The former undisputed heavyweight king spends his time these days as the face of Iron Mike Productions (IMP), still in its first full year but already making an impact on the sport. While IMP has plenty of prospects in its stable – including a trio of young fighters appearing on an April 18 Shobox tripleheader, the company is for the moment without a legitimate horse in the heavyweight sweepstakes. What Tyson says there is spot on. Jennings is very good prospect indeed and It made me lol seeing Mike compare Wilder to his 3 year old son. That's how well protected Deontay has been.
Not so funny though that he is being gifted a shot at the world title without showing us the answer Mike's question - "What happens when some-one hits him back?"

To be fair, Tyson's 3 year old has ATG power in his genes. Deontay shouldn't be offended.

I agree regarding Jennings. This guy is an all-year round athlete. I got to see him upclose ringside in January and was very impressed. Keep an eye out for him later this year. He's definitely going to make things exciting. I believe him and Mike Perez are going to meet up.

I sense a little animosity and playfulness when Mike was asked about Wilder.

Mike recognizes the Bomber's greatness, but he just doesn't want to admit it yet.

We'll just have to wait a little while longer to see what it is that we truly have in Our Deontay.

It would be cool if Tyson started training fighters. He could pass on some of the Cus D'Amato methods.
