The WBA rules state the super champion has 18 months to face the regular title holder from the date the regular champ acquired the belt,if the regular belt changes hands between another challenger the original date is still the date the super champ has to defend by still.
Braehmer will get a mandatory shot at Shumenov or Hopkins, presuming he holds onto his regular title.i believe the WBA would only allow delays with unifications.with Froch facing Kessler last year, the IBF were reluctant to allow unification because Mikkel didn't actually hold the full title, only regular belt.this in itself creates a nonsensical standpoint with the WBA regular belt not actually considered a world title !
I understand the sanctioning bodies giving out these lesser belts,my view on them all is obviosuly quite low,as is pretty much everyone else's on NSB.it just creates these issues with actually preventing the match ups we wanna see.we struggle to see the top guys facing each other already with Showtime and HBO refusing to accommodate each other.
Where do the WBC stand in regards to unifications ? Can somebody please elaborate ? I was thinking maybe the new WBC heavyweight champion may elect to unify rather than go through with his ordered mandatories against Wilder and Jennings/Perez winner.
