If nothing else, he can use the german interest as leverage when negotiating a purse for a Stevenson fight. If he gets by Shumenov obviously. That is not a given.

They will allow exception. Sanctioning bodies have made exceptions to Hopkins in the past. E.g. Hopkins didn't fight IBF mandatory suliman when he fought Taylor.

Kalle Sauerland, promotor of WBA LHW champion Jürgen Brähmer told german broadcaster ARD, that he'd love to make a fight with Bernard Hopkins should he get by Shumenov.

They have two Champions in several weightdivisions. It's ridiculous.

Sometimes it's even absurd. A couple of years ago, they had Ward as superchamp, Magee as regular champ and Balszay as champion in recess. I cannot remember if they also had an interim champion, but it wouldn't surprise me lol.
