I don't think Roach picks any fighters opponents, promoters have matchmakers who do that. Roach just talks a lot.

Anyway, putting him in with Maidana and Garcia would not have been smartest moves.

I am pretty sure he had a lot of influence in the match making. They did everything to pospone the Maidana fight and only took it when they were forced to when Maidana was taking legal action. Garcia was a reaction to the Peterson situation a gamble to gain what was lost.In both those cases circumstances forced the fights. The same thing is happening now with this Collazo fight,that is happening because of Khan's obsession with landing a Mayweather fight the same obsession that made him take the Garcia gamble.
