Setting the standard way before Floyd, retire undefeated!!! He fought everyone, was an underrated boxer with great defense, a granite chin, enough heart for 10 men, and an underrated ring IQ.

One of the greatest to ever lace a pair of gloves, WAR ROCKY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pound for pound he was one of the greatest fighters in history. He was really a light heavyweight at 5 foot 10 inches and only weighing in the low 180s in street clothes and eating lunch on the day of the fight. He could easily have fought at 175 but he was the undefeated heavyweight champ.

Most overrated boxer in the history of boxing....not only that but the Italian mafia interfered with most of his matches too

The style of the day was to cut weight. Many of today's fighters would be 40 pounds less if they fought back then.

In case it matters Marciano was the same height as Joe Frazier, Mike Tyson and David Tua. Were they too short? No.

Back in the day they did what we now call pliometrics, working core muscles rather than bulking up.

Marciano was constantly dieting, trimming down and working on his endurance during training camps. He would drop 10+ pounds during camp. Meaning that his walk around weight was 195-200. But he wasn't out-of-shape when not training. Marciano, as with Mayweather, was always in shape, always working out. He would run and skip rope 7 days a week (including Christmas Day). Remember they fought much more often back then, even if they were only what we would call stay-busy fights.

If he was brought to today's world he could easily put on 15 pounds of muscle and come in at 210 plus. Yes he would have trouble against LL but take a look at Lenox Lewis v Ray Mercer. Mercer was Marciano's height and while he came in to the fight at 238 he was way over weight and would have had the same power - but more footspeed, more agility and more endurance - if he had no fat and came in weighing 205.
