Roach Has trained so many fighters hes guided so many to world titles and is recognized as one of the best and respected trainers in the world. Virgil Hunter made a name for himself by training one guy Andre Ward. All these other guys that come into his stable are for the most part young fighters but Besides ward and khan, hunter really doesnt have any big time fighters so he needs to check his damn ego. Robert Garcia has so many guys and hes someone that i respect but even he gets a little pissed off once in awhile but he has the credentials to back it up. Amir wanted to be Roach's number 1 fighter and i can understand that Khan would go to the Philippines and train with manny just so he can be with roach. Thing is it worked Freddie trained him to be a world champ and if Bradley didnt ***** out he would have been undisputed but instead peterson got a gift decision and garcia got in a lucky left hook.

When it comes to manny fans--all roads lead back to heartache of watching manny getting ktfo. And, I'm a manny fan! These people are nuts. The whole "but he was winning" and "lucky punch" thing is the most insane thing I've ever heard coming from a sportsfan. It's insane

Well you can't please everyone, especially someone who appears to have a big ego himself. Anyway since he mentioned that Ward can beat heavyweights, it's good to walk the talk and let Ward fight in the LHW division, particularly Kovalev.

Roach is definitely a negative guy. A certain amount of the stuff he says you can put down to Manny not speaking english and Freddie having to do his trash talking, but he'd be like that anyway.
I think he's entitled to say what he wants about Khan though. Khan was the first to put bad headlines out about Roach in that relationship when he heavily implied that Roach's Parkinson's was connected to his own deteriorating form. Which is patent nonsense.
Hunter here just reminds me of another one of those guys who can give it but can't take it though. He talks plenty himself.

No the only thing that Virgil is saying here is that Roach gets fighters who are already a made name, got the skills and talent, and he just puts his stamp on them and tweak them a lil bit to make them better, and that Roach has NEVER took a child (12 or 13 yrs old )who is raw, doesn't know what from what, and teach that kid all the things about boxing and watch them grow and progress over the years, that there my friend is a definition of a true trainer...from the root to the fruit..
That's like me coaching Lebron right now and taking all the credit for what type of player he is and I made him great, totally disregarding all his AAU coaches, his HS coaches and so on....do you get the point Virgil is making now about him and the other trainers he mentioned....a la Kevin Cunningham who has been with Devon Alexander since DA was 8.......'from the root to the fruit'

One thing i noticed about Freddie the Joke coach is that his fighters tend to win against basic come forward fighters, but when his fighters fight good technicians who isn't weight drained, his fighters tend to lose or get gift decisions. For Example,Khan when he fought Peterson and Danny Garcia,Pac-juicer when he fought Marquez, Bradley and the version of Morales wasn't weight drained which was only in the first fight,Provodnikov when he fought Bradley,Julio Cesar Chavez junior when he fought Sergio Martinez.
The reason Virgil Hunter haven't been doing well with fighters outside of Ward,is because those fighters outside of Ward lack any real intelligence.A trainer can give you ideas, but when you in that ring its the fighters job to execute it, and its the fighters job to be smart enough to make the adjustments in the ring.Ward has that natural intelligence so Virgil hunter is able to give him great ideas, and Ward executes them well, and Ward has the natural ring intelligence to make the proper adjustments when he`s in the ring.
