This fight completely slipped my mind, seems like Stevens got more than he bargained for.

Give the guy a count or let Stevens finish him conclusively if he is able to. Leaving doubt like this robs the fans and also doesn't give boxers that have a good fighting heart a chance to show it and make a comeback.

Cunningham looked more hurt against Mansour but he still managed to turn it around and win the fight.

Johnson can come back from this, he might've endured something more damaging if he carried on.

Standing 8's are hardly ever used anymore. Who knows if the boxing commission in P.A. ever allows them. The fight was stopped quickly, but there are other things you have to look at. It was very late in a hard exhausting fight and fighters are very vulnerable to serious injury at that stage. They are tired, dehydrated and are more likely to get hurt seriously if they take that extra punch. Watch when the ref stops it, Johnson did not know what was going on and was in lala land for a bit, then started to complain. IMO he was done. Now if it was stopped that way early in the fight I would be lining up with you complaining about it.

What a biased article. Who in the world wrote that piece of clap trap?

Reports it as fact that Johnson was robbed and should've been allowed to continue? What about that's Shaw's and Johnson's and some fan's opinion?

Stevens landed a nice left hook that slowed Johnson down? He landed A BUNCH of unanswered punches and Johnson was out on his feet... defenseless and exhausted near the end of a fight... prime time for serious injury to occur.

What would've happened for that last minute? MORE unanswered punches? Brain damage? Geez... rematch or not... Johnson can fight another day... and will get some good fights now because of his performance in this one.

Yes, Stevens was lucky, and if there is a rematch he has his homework cut out for him... but damn, that was a good stoppage. Get over it.

I vote best stoppage of the year.....

Maybe stop hugging your opponent's space all 12 rounds and you might actually land some flush shots. vplp
Dude was winning comfortably but fight the 12th round like any other smart fighter would. He got clocked real good and was out on his feet period. The ref did his job preventing Curtis from landing a clean shot on a defenseless guy. Sure Curtis missed the first few after landing that bomb but it was k ney a matter of seconds before he would have clocked him again. Great job ref!!!!!! Casual boxing fans need to realize " The fight ain't over until the final bell rings or the ref steps in and stops it". Good fight and Curtis lost almost every rd except the last one which counted as a TKO........

But he didn't. Like you said, he was missing and the shots were blocked because Johnson clearly still had some of his senses, enough to keep his arms up.

Since Stevens was losing, he should have had to finish him the old fashioned way. Now, if he was dominating up to that point, i'd have no issue with the stoppage.

                      bad stoppage imo.

Johnson didn't fight smart in the 10th. Should have been less aggressive.
