Comments Thread For: Photos/Weights: Rubio vs. Spada WBC Title Clash

Marco Antonio Rubio and Domenico Spada both easily made weight in advance of their interim middleweight title fight Saturday evening in Delicias, Mexico.

Rubio (58-6-1, 50KO) came in at a trim and ready 159.1 lb. for his third crack at a major title. The fight was owed to him by the WBC as per an agreement stemming from the fallout over the lack of post-fight drug testing made available following his loss to then-middleweight titlist Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in 2012.

Spada (38-4, 19KO), an Italian middleweight fighting outside of Europe for the first time in his career, came in shockingly light at a career-low 157.5 lb. The bout marks his second attempt at an interim title, having dropped a competitive decision to Sebastian Zbik on the road in Germany four years ago. [Click Here To Read More]

Wow, so instead of punishing Chavez jr for skipping out on their drug test they just let Rubio fight for the Interim title hopefully Mauricio doesn't do the same shady stuff his father did.

        Rubio gots this tho

Zbick was a pure boxer. No such luck here. Rubio comes to ****, but he can be boxed, out****** too. The Italian's claim is his strength, it will work here if he really has any. Rubio is physical, no fancy Dan.

Spada doesn't have a punch and he was brought in as a mark for Rubio. He doesn't have the power to knock him out and he's not getting a decision, so .... the new and bull****e interim "champion" is Rubio

No Rubio chose this himself, probably took a pay off from Sergio to let him fight Cotto. Rubio won a court case that made him the mando, he could have pushed for sergio and sergio would not be able to fight cotto with the belt, but he didnt. Clearly got paid off
