Angulo makes a good point. Chavez humiliated and destroyed Martinez in that 12th round. Martinez was in way worse shape and taking harder flush shots than the one Angulo got.

Weeks knows he made the wrong decision even though he denies it.

Angulo got shut out imo, he needs to be grateful he wasn't beaten down.

Tony Weeks protecting the A-side - which he does - is neither here nor there in this case.

Angulo's interpretation of the fight being similar to Chavez vs Martinez is wide of the mark.

Martinez was moving a lot and peppering Chavez with punches. Whilst he threw a lot, not many were landing flush or clean as Chavez was covering up pretty well albeit at the expense of his own output. Chavez, the bigger guy, was absorbing as he came forward, and when he threw he did so with conviction. The few punches that he landed prior to the 12th did rock Martinez's head back and put him on his bike.

In contrast, Angulo was meandering forward almost defenseless. By the time of the stoppage, Canelo was loading up and teeing off. He couldn't miss, was landing flush punches consistently, was making Angulo's head do the bobblehead, and he looked a beaten fighter. Whilst Martinez was shutting Chavez out, he wasn't shutting Chavez down. Angulo looked finished, unable to intelligently defend himself, and thus unable to safely continue.

You could argue Angulo had landed more than Chavez - but his punches did absolutely nothing to Canelo. At least Martinez looked wary of engaging and did so with deft footwork. Canelo had a punching bag stood in front of him.

Angulo's point is exaggerated, just like the complaints about the stoppage.

JCC wasn't getting torn up by as hard of shots as Angulo was. Canelo has more power pound for pound than Sergio does.

Also, JCC's real issue was that he wasn't throwing nearly as often as he should've. Angulo's problem was that he was throwing light shots that weren't connecting and he was getting hammered by tons of shots.

Stopping the fight was legit, Angulo wasn't anywhere close to "coming on" in that fight. Other than maybe the 8th round, Angulo looked like a tough but poor club fighter matched with Canelo.

I wanted Angulo to win too, but there's no arguing this.

angulo needs to stop crying, canelo was going to send him into the emergency room, he wasn't connecting on canelo, what a sore looser., and plus chavez was game with martinez.

While Angulo may have been losing the fight, he never stopped fighting and continued coming forward. To Angulo and the crowd’s dismay, referee Tony Weeks decided to stop the fight in the 10th round as he felt Angulo had taken enough.

Angulo was visibly upset and did not agree with Weeks decision to stop the contest. His trainer Virgil Hunter echoed Angulo’s displeasure citing the stoppage wasn’t justified given Angulo was not hit with multiple unanswered punches and was only hit with one shot when Weeks stepped in.

Angulo we all know you have heart but you were taking serious punishment. You were getting hit to cleanly, too often and too hard.
