If you ever listen to Quillin talk, he has a very particular way he wants for his career to go. He wants to build his financial future having worked for years to reach this point. That means he is happy totting up lots of low-risk undercard fights. To be a headliner would need for him to take harder fighter with higher expectations.
In a way, you can understand it. He has a family and while he's earning pretty solid money now, it's not going to last. So why risk it when he has a good thing going? .
The problem with this method is that it is terribly uninteresting from a fans perspective. I honestly do not think he will be in a challenging fight for a long time. Until maybe when he, and GBP, are ready to sell out - probably to Canelo. Until then, he will just rack up fairly uninspiring defence, building up his bank balance. GBP are happy to indulge this because it means they have a champ at MW (and that might come in useful one day) and he's a fairly solid undercard presence.Comment

Petey is a local attraction. That's his ceiling now. That is what Haymon will allow him to be. And since Petey was broke, fighting at the hammerstein/roseland and training dudes like me until he met Al Haymon...Al Haymon will continue to be the boss.Comment

Quillin cannot just jump to HBO because of Al Haymon and Golden Boy. From what I understand, HBO won't work with either. That said, there are still plenty of tough fights for him that could be made on Showtime if he actually wanted to fight somebody worthwhile.Comment
