GGG really IS a hype job. No one is basing his "greatness" on his performances or raw ability ... they're basing it on what his trainer and some Boxing "experts" have said. When you watch him fight, what do you see that is "great"? his power? Yes, he has power ... but is it THAT great? I'm not sure. Is it his combos? His hand speed? His defense? His will? His aggression? What exactly is it that makes everyone think that GGG is so great? The three gold medals during his amateur career? I'm just curious, that's all.

I know I'm not saying he couldn't have done it, but it was more in reference to Jr. being heavy handed. Had he put more combos together going up and down, he very well could have dropped him.

Yes, i'm not sure he's heavy handed but he definitely creates that appearance. The left hook he has looks heavy and sounds heavy. Vera was game though.
I was sure that JCC was going to finish him, that it was just a matter of time ... but he couldn't get the job done and deserved to lose the fight. Matter of fact, he did lose the fight. The records just don't show that.
I don't like him at all, but he's a good step for GGG. I hope GGG beats his ass badly. But I think it'll go all 12. Unless JCC comes in in horrible shape and quits.

I doubt Stevens has an any better KO record against the same opponents, I doubt he even beats all of them.

Chavez is much larger and clearly a heavy handed fighter.

Almost stopped Martinez, whilst not stopping or dropping Vera he hurt him multiple times.

I see nothing to suggest Stevens hits harder other than some nice highlight reel KO against bums.
Wheres this myth of Chavez' quality comp come from? That guy has barely beaten 1 top 10 opponent, feeble Zbik, without ever dropping him

Where did I say Chavez has fought quality competition?

I said he's fought better competition than Stevens which is pretty obvious that he has, but that's not very hard to do really.

The major problem I see for GGG is size difference on fight night. He might be outweighed by 20 pounds.
