Whilst he hasn't stopped as many and Stevens has and it looks nice on paper, the difference in opposition is vast.

I doubt Stevens has an any better KO record against the same opponents, I doubt he even beats all of them.

Chavez is much larger and clearly a heavy handed fighter.

Almost stopped Martinez, whilst not stopping or dropping Vera he hurt him multiple times.

I see nothing to suggest Stevens hits harder other than some nice highlight reel KO against bums.
Skill level and natural heavy handedness are two different things. While Curtis may not have the ability to KO upper achelan fighters, you can still tell that he has a pretty good punch. The part in bold is kind of deceiving though. He has always been the bigger man in his fights which leads to the assumption that his blows are heavy. While he may have a good punch, you would at least think that he'd have more KD's overall. Yeah he caught Sergio but there has been several fights where Sergio has tasted the canvas so that's not really solidifying Chavez's power. When you land as much as Chavez did, it says a lot that he didn't put Vera down at least once when other fighters have already put him down with much less connect % than him.

While I do agree with you that Chavez Jr. isn't a one punch knockout-puncher. He did have Martinez hurt in a way he hasn't been for a long time. He's gone down many times but most of the times it's been flash knockdowns due to bad balance. And with Vera, he took some huge punches in the second fight, he has one hell of a chin. But Chavez Jr. is a fighter that breaks you down with many punches, not with one single punch.

He did have him hurt pretty good but it's not surprising considering he got hit from a guy that much bigger and probably being exhausted. Says a lot about Sergio's stamina and will. Don't get me wrong I'm in no way knocking Chavez. It's just funny how some people will swear by it that he is heavy handed. We would see what his punching power is like against someone who comes in the ring around the same weight as he does.

Martinez went down because he was completely worn down after beating on a punching bag for 11 rounds. It had much more to do with exhaustion than Chavez's punches.

Good points there. If I remember it correctly Martinez was showboating a bit aswell? Got a bit reckless in combination with being very tired.

GGG should,ve asked for no more then 10 lbs. fight night... chavez will try and make it a shoot out in the first 4 rds... after 5 GGG goes to work and chavez jr. starts to gas out... GGG skills and jab is much better... chavez corner stops it by 9 rds... just my O....

He could have put Vera down had he thrown more than a one or two punch combos. He rocked Vera 3 or 4 good times, and was not interested in capitalizing at all it seemed. Lazy I guess?

fyi my prediction is GGG 12rd Majority Decision, neither guy gets dropped but both get wobbled a few times

One thing I noticed about GGG, is that he doesn't have the best head movement I have ever seen. Stevens hit him, and sometimes he's there to be hit. I think Jr will hit him, the question is, how will GGG take it?

In the end I would pick GGG but Chavez' size could play an big role if he comes ready.
                      100% this.

Jr is big, and can take and can throw a punch. I'm really interested to see 'GGG' eat a few hard ones. After that we'll see how it goes.
