And the proof is in the pudding with regards to the Golovkin/Chavez/Ward situation. His team chose a PPV fight against the bigger money maker in Chavez. It's pretty much the exact same situation. So the hypocrisy needs to end on that.

The rest I agree with - Stevenson and Quillin can go eat ****s.
My way of thinking is this though: Is it even fair for GGG to get a fight with Ward considering he's done nothing at that weight? Aren't there more deserving fighters or mandatory contenders? I think Chavez Jr is a good start. But I don't like him moving up then back down again if that's what he plans on doing.

      I can speak for myself,

I'm not a 'fan' of GGG, but I have no reason to dislike him, what I dislike are his fanatic fans.

The same happened for Pac , I like Pac a lot, but for a time some of his fanatics made me take stances against their favorite fighter.

I agree with your thread, he hasn't done much resume- wise, but he certainly has potential. I'm pretty sure he'd beat Martinez if they were to fight tomorrow.

Chavez jr is a good fight, if GGG beats Chavez more convingly than Martinez, the Argentinian will have to give him a shot, unless he retires.
If GGG gets the MW lineal MW title and then fights Ward for the SMW, it's only great news for me, whoever wins.

Irrelevant. Ward wants the fight and HBO would want the fight. Deserving doesn't really mean ****. GGG and his team can't complain about everyone ducking him when they have a world class opponent willing to fight him.

But like I said, I completely understand their decision to fight Chavez and support it. GGG fans should keep quiet about Martinez choosing to fight Cotto though.

don't blame GGG for fighting Chavez
frankly, it's not the smartest move he can make
been saying all along he hasn't beaten an elite guy at MW yet
don't know how it's a cherrypick for him to go up in weight
Chavez is good/big enough to beat him in his 1st try at 168
since he can't unify at MW right now he's stuck in a rut
he's just been staying busy without any big fights
he doesn't have to go straight for Ward at 168

I dont understand how anyone would not want to see GGG vs Fake JR. This says everything about how far the sports fandom has fallen. We have fanboys that are pissing on great fights just do live up to their "side." It makes me sick.

I like the fight. But you have to admit nothing is truly at stake. The winner (likely GGG) isn't elevated, the loser isn't penalized. win or lose GGG goes back to 160. win or lose Chavez stays at 168. Also, there are fights with both fighters we all woud like to see more.

But yeah, I'm excited for this fight.

Any evidence for Ward and HBO wanting the fight? I know Ward said hes open to it but hes the money guy here yet no offer produced. How about HBO?
