I think Hunter is overrated as a trainer. Khan had his best wins with Roach. If Hunter improved him for Molina he should have improved him more for Diaz. Collazo will be a good test for both fighter and trainer so I'll wait and see how Khan looks then. So far I've seen nothing special about Hunter as a trainer. He gets too excited in the corner and recently he has lost two in a row but that could happen to any trainer who's fighters are matched into very good fighters.

For some reason his boxers do not listen to his instructions in the ring. I don't know what it is, or how he can change it, they just are not responsive to his instructions. That's a problem.

Ward is just Ward, he was going to be great regardless if who trained him.

Virgil has taken on all these boxers at a cross-roads and hasn't been so successful thus far.

Maybe he just needs more time with his new fighters. Most of his relationships are new and still developing. The Mayfield fight makes me seriously doubt his game planning and in fight instructions.
The reason why Ward and Gonzalez do well for Virgil is because they are fighters he's trained from the beginning of their career (including amateur). No matter what a trainer does or tells a fighter, he or she can't get in the ring and fight for them. I think he's a damn good trainer. But right now I feel Robert Garcia is the best trainer in boxing because he has completely turned around the careers of the fighters he has recently worked with.

Dude is straight up creepy if you ask me. He did well with Ward but Andre seems like a very self motivated guy so I think a lot of trainers would have success with him. Not saying Virgil doesn't deserve some credit.

Him pretty much begging Angulo to let his hands go was pretty funny. Something like "please Alfredo, let those beautiful hands that your were blessed with go" or something like that. Angulo should have quit right then and there...

Virgil has very possibly neutered Khan. We'll see how he looks against Collazo. If he's not on his A-game he could very well be stopped.

Look at the Molina fight. Khan WAS a very slick fighter in that fight. I made sure to put that in the post because people dont remember that. Its THREE versions of Khan not two.

No he didnt. Mayfiled tried to box midrange and the commentators talked about it from the opening round. He was really on the outside against a guy who was taller and longer. Mayfield should have got ugly on the inside how he normally fights. He didnt do that until the later rounds but he was tired and beat up by then.

First person to really notice that. Khan was very sharp for Molina. Almost a different fighter. It is THREE versions of Khan NOT two.
