Comments Thread For: R. Garcia: Mayweather-Maidana Won’t Be Easy For Either

Robert Garcia, who trains Marcos “Chino” Maidana, spoke with BoxingScene.com on March 28 about Maidana’s upcoming fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. on May 3.

BoxingScene.com: This is an obvious question, but what is the difference between preparing for Adrien Broner and preparing for Floyd Mayweather?

Garcia: “Look, before the fight, everybody thought and everybody said Adrien Broner was the next Mayweather. Everybody was talking about how Maidana had no chance and Mayweather himself would say that Adrien Broner was the next guy to take over after he got out of boxing. But after the fight, it seemed like everybody changed their mind. ‘Broner was not the same. Broner’s not as good as Mayweather was. Broner has nothing similar to Mayweather.’

Lol you know you're good when your opponent is a power punching all action in his prime dude thats bigger than you and is trained by a former champ who's one of the best in the game and they dont let the fighter watch tapes of you cuz they're scared it'll put doubt into his head. Well I love Garcia and Maidana and Floyd's my fav fighter and if he lost to anyone at least it would be to a hard working good guy like Marcos whose come up the hard way...but reality is they can protect Maidana from Floyd in camp but once they get in that ring he's gotta deal with the real thing not what he seen on tv or in the crowd and its gonna be a major wake up call

Jjaja. But this Robert Garcia should learn from Floyd, who don't duck fights just because the opponent has a real chance to win. Robert Garcia just pushed his brother to duck Gamboa just because of that. He is an expert judging others but in his team they are a bunch of chickens cowards jaja

Floyd could duck but he is not ducking Maidana. Maidana just won Broner and here is the fight. He could choose Khan who has lost so many fights, but he don't. Canelo choose angulo just when he lost, Mickey lie about Gamboa saying he was priced out just as an excuse to duck. This generation of Mexicans champions are not anymore like it used to be. You guys should analyze the pique because something had change jaja

Finding sparring partners who can emulate Mayweather's skills will be the problem.

                  .

The last paragraph from Garcia is why Maidana is going to beat down badly. You have to prepare your fighter for the real Mayweather and not just pump there head up. Maidana doesn't have much of chance in this fight to begin with, but to let him hold onto a false belief like Broner is stronger than FMJ is down right ******.
