Lol this was his first HBO headline fight, of course nobody in the Atlantic City area will know who the hell Sergey Kovalev is

Brb not a "star" so doesn't deserve Adonis

That fight could of sold 100 tickets and he would still be as good as he is and still a titlist meaning Adonis avoiding Kovalev is still a duck.

Why would they overpay for a **** fight like Fonfara if they couldn't get a guarantee for Kovalev?

Sorry man, 3m for a tuneup is not defendable. HBO has the money, and have been unwilling to spend like they use to since GBP left. They don't trust anyone in boxing or dictate anything in boxing anymore. They should just get out the game, and allow a real network to take over like ESPN, or one of the big ass cablenetworks like CBS or ABC, NBC

              Uh..no...

Yvon Michel, promoter of WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson, sat down with BoxingScene.com to discuss the recent events involving his star fighter and the breakdown of negotiations with HBO for a fall unification with WBO champion Sergey Kovalev. For much of 2013, HBO was showcasing both Stevenson and Kovalev - with the idea of matching them in a high profile fight at some point this year. At the end of January, the discussions between Michel, HBO and Kovalev's promoter Main Events intensified. Both boxers were going to take interim-fights and then face each other on a date in the fall.

              Stevenson - Bellew 1.305mil

              Kovalev - Sillakh 1.254mil

it's Andre Ward though, he's earned a high priced tuneup as much as anyone. Doesn't mean they should overpay for all tuneups, that's a really bad way to go

This is lies, Kovalev-Sillakh did 1.3 million.

Huh? This thread isn't about Stevenson. Didn't even mention Stevenson at all in my original post. I misread the ratings, but how does that make me a Stevenson defender.

Interesting you say that... Dan Rafael states that ESPn is the sleeping giant and that they could take the game over If they committed their (some not all) resources to boxing
