It's true that a fighter can make more money by fighting older big names instead of young dangerous fighters, I think we all know that, but it doesn't mean we have to respect them or pay to watch it.

HBO asked about the potential of a Kovalev-Stevenson fight after the Stevenson-Fonfara fight and Haymon said absolutely not. He would only allow the Stevenson-Fonfara fight to take place on HBO after a 40% increase over what had apparently been agreed upon for the fight to take place on HBO initially. Haymon had no intention of ever allowing the Stevenson-Kovalev fight to take place, he wanted Stevenson to fight BHOP from jump street.

Do you have a link, or very strong source that would prove the bold? If you don't then you just made that up out of thin air and I can not take a discussion with you seriously if you can not discuss with facts.

So we doing it like that now? First of all, I wouldn't know who the f.uck Al Haymon was if he walked up to me wearing a "hello, I'm Al Haymon" name tag. Secondly, unlike most of ya'll, I understand boxing is these people's jobs. Its how they make a living. And I don't know about you. But if somebody is willing to pay me more money to do the same job, I'm a take it, and so would you. Like I said, get mad at HBO. If HBO gave a rat's ass about the cult collection of hardcore fight fans, they would have matched Showtime's offer. Because those are the f.ucktards that don't attend fights, don't order PPV, and don't even watch the majority of the fights on regular HBO. But don't blame Stevenson for chasing the money. HBO didn't want to pay Stevenson yet were willing to pay Ward and Rodriguez for that terrible fight they put on. I can see where Stevenson's promoter is coming from, you work for whoever is gonna pay you the most money for your profession.

Ward is an hbo commentator and has a much closer relationship with them. Stevenson has not done nearly enough to warrant a payday like Ward. Ward cleaned out 168 and constantly fought the best. Stevenson was in the right place at the right time to win his joke of a lineal championship. How are you going to be lineal champion when there are so many other beltholders at 175?
Stevenson hasn't fought even the second best in his division. No way he deserves to get paid what ward does

That's not true. They wanted HBO to match Showtime's offer, HBO confirmed this and they decided to pass.

Michel was pretty clear a deal would have been done if a fight with Kovalev if they received a license fee like Ward-Rodriguez. It's an embarrassment that Stevenson-Kovalv was offered 2 million and Gamboa was set to make 1.5 for Garcia. And that fight fell apart because Garcia did not receive his requested 1.7. Rios, coming off a loss, got 4 million, nearly double of the entire Stevenson-Kovalve fee, for Pacquiao.
