I think that in the long run his move will still kind of backfire. Legacy wise, there isn't much that he could do from this point on that would make people forget his run from Kovalev. Even beating Hopkins up (if he was to do so) wouldnt be enough, coz the reaction to that would be 'Old Hopkins is finally done' rather than 'Omg Stevenson is great'...Such a result would leave people saying time beat Hopkins, not Adonis, if you know what I mean.
