They call him the golden boy for a reason.

If Hoya was in his prime now, with the way the big ppvs are marketed, he would be blowing out floyds #s. Unlike Floyd, Hoya, was exciting, and people loved him, ppl who have 0 interest in sports tuned in for Hoya.

    I loved his style.

Not to mention fighting Floyd and manny

Oscar pretty much fought all the big fights everyone wanted to see, was always exciting and yet somehow people always b!tch about him
Correct me if Im wrong, but didnt Oscar beat up a bunch of smaller guys? Didnt want to move up? Im not going to act like I know all about his resume, but Pac, Floyd, and Shane are the only small fighters who beat him. I remember he didnt want to fight Tito for shiet...

VERY detailed Video. Im not going to act like I know Oscar's whole career, but this video has allot of things for you both. Its so crazy how we go out of our way to discredit others.

Oscar was big for 130-140 and beat smaller guys but he did move thru the weights and fought bigger guys too.

He was not like a terry Norris who stayed in one division and almost always fought smaller guys.

I like Norris but he had a tendency to fight smaller guys

Im not going to sit here and pretend to know Oscar well enough to debate about it. But this video goes BEYOND that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AkDZCrfdytI

At 130 and 135 he was young and learning his craft but yes fought smaller fighters but top level guys like genaro, leija, Molina, ruelas, some very good fighters and some future hall of famers.. Much like how broner started off with small guys but nowhere near the caliber of guys oscar fought

Then moved to 140 by 1996 and fought his first big PPv vs Chavez

By 1997 he went to welter and fought pernell, camacho, Chavez 2, Miguel angel Gonzalez, and basically was becoming a star by having these fights with older bigger names

By 1999 he went on a run of fighting all the top welters like Ike, Carr, Tito, Shane

By 2001 fought gatti at welter but then moved up to 154 and fought castello, and Vargas, campos,

2004 moved up to mw and challenged sturm and Hopkins

Shane and oscar are about the same size,, Shane was a monster at 135 just like oscar but outgrew it and was a true welter
