Kovalev-Agnew was eerily similar to GGG-Stevens

Kind of strange but I found this fight to be awfully similar to GGG Stevens. Although while Stevens was more known than Agnew, he was an over matched opponent that Kovalev was supposed to blow out early. Kovalev is a hard hitter who people claim is avoided. Stevens got caught early, fought super defensively for the rest of the night, landed some decent counters and got stopped in the 7th, just like Agnew.

    Anyone?

I was thinking the same thing. Stevens had more bright spots and arguably won a round, but they were very similar fights.

solid assessment, but i think agnew was in much more of a shell than stevens. Also ggg got tagged much more than kov. kov was headbutted and hit low. Agnew did land some good shots though.

I thought the same. When guys cover up with that high tight guard only looking for a big counter obviously it's a tricky style to simply destroy. Not many opportunities so the offensive fighter just has to keep trying to wear them down (as they both did).

ANd of course the idiots that still after all this time Don't understand the most basic phrase that Styles Make Fights, they juml to conclusions that they are overrated or X fighter beats them easily.

I was thinking of Barker and Stevens, but those two did much better.

I was thinking the same since that is what everybody else said.

Like Max said, Kovalev has guard crushing power.

Agnew was simply there to survive once he actually stepped in the ring and felt the power through his gloves.

Stevens is a puncher and had already been stopped before. Agnew isn't much of a puncher but was undefeated and had never been stopped. But most people thought they wouldn't last more than a few rounds with either man, that the only similarity I see between the two.

To some degree yes, but Stevens put up a much better fight than Agnew. He even won a couple rounds and made it competitive in moments. Agnew did absolutely nothing, just prolonged his destruction by shelling up.
