I wanted the Gamboa fight too, but its not like hes not fighting Gamboa to fight some bum, if he beats Uchiyama does that make him the lineal champion?

Gamboa's technical flaws and not so great chin would be exploited by Garcia. Garcia has faced world class opposition in his last few fights. Lopez may not be better than Gamboa, but he's probably a bigger puncher. If it's a question of Gamboa or Uchiyama, the question is: Who is more accomplished at 130? Who is a bigger puncher? Who is a top level fighter?Last edited by racostaa; 03-29-2014, 04:49 PM.

Garcia's no coward. Cowards don't fight guys like Salido, Burgos, and possibly Uchiyama. By the way, what when was Gamboa's last win over a top fighter? Wasn't it Ponce de Leon over two years ago? Gamboa hasn't beaten a single top ten fighter in his current weight class (135) or the previous one (130). Why would Garcia's team be afraid of a fighter like Gamboa who constantly gets hit with counters and dropped?

Originally posted by ColdBloodedYeah, because it is the top two fighters fighting each other. What I want to see is Garcia beat Uchiyama, maybe unify the other titles at 130, maybe make a defense or two, then move up to 135. Gamboa, I'd like to see establish himself as a top 135 lber. Then, he and Garcia could fight. But as it stands now, Gamboa isn't a proven top fighter at 130 or 135.

Originally posted by ColdBloodedIn fairness to Garcia, they have, with the exception of Lopez, stepping up his competition each fight. Barros was a former titleholder. Then Salido was one of the best fighters at 126. Then, Rocky Martinez was a top ten 130lber in Garcia's first fight at the weight class. Then Burgos was an even better 130lber with very solid skills and difficult physical attributes. His style (tall, rangy, fast, and powerful mover who throws a lot of punches, has solid outside boxing skills, and very good inside boxing skills) is a tough matchup for a shorter counterpuncher. I don't think unifying with Uchiyama and establishing a lineal 130 lb champion qualifies as ducking. It would be a significant step up in competition for Garcia. Uchiyama is a very dangerous fighter. After Uchiyama, I'd want Garcia to either unify further at 130 or fight Gamboa.
I hope some day this fight will happen because so many people like me think he duck Gamboa in the worst manner. He should never had to said that the issue was on Gamboa's side when the truth is he didn't wanted the fight. This manipulation on his team make me also thinks that probably the issue between Gamboa and Rios had manipulation, because they tried to do it again but this time Gamboa had public relationist and more resources to unveil the lie.Last edited by racostaa; 03-29-2014, 05:21 PM.
