Casual fans that attach themselves to the big names in the sport and then 'prove' their allegiance by blindly arguing about them being the GOAT.

That is pretty much the conclusion I have come up with. Fans of a fighter and not fans of boxing.

Very true. Floyd don't even know you exist. I understand people around him like Ellerbe, he can defend and apologize for Floyd, he's making tons of money doing it. I liken it to ******** and conservative commentators in US politics. They make money or doing it for a living. Some guys need hero's as they get a little older to replace their G.I.Joes and Star wars figurines. They discover boxing because of the aggressive combative element and thereby latch on to this or that boxer (Whichever Boxer is making the most profound noise ATM) And then they become of those who worship without reason or conscience ..... Just like they used to do with their G.I.Joes and Star War figurines.

It can definitely get annoying sometimes.

I dont know how people defend Floyd. Hes a great fighter but doesn't want to take punishment or get hit or really engage. I kind of wish Floyd didnt have that 0 then maybe he would be willing to fight dangerous fighters.

I respect Manny because he'll fight anyone.
