  • Comments Thread For: Lucian Bute Parts Ways With His Longtime Trainer

Former super middleweight champion Lucian Bute (31-2, 24KOs) is making some changes. The 34-year-old boxer, once considered to be one of the best fighters in the world, has lost two of his last three fights. He was blown out by Carl Froch in five rounds in May of 2012, returned in November to decision Denis Grachev, and then moved up to light heavyweight in January to lose a twelve round decision to Canadian rival Jean Pascal.

    Last chance saloon for Bute.

Sometimes a change can work wonders, but there's an awful lot of work to do to get Bute's level of confidence raised.

If Bute wanted a real quick change he should just sign with Al Haymon. Al got all da right bisness skillz.

Bute was looking really strong towards the end of the Pascal fight. Not sure about this move, maybe it's time he moves up in weight?

Haven't followed bute career for that long but I got the impression him and his trainer were very close like best buddies.

The beat down froch handed him has dented him mentally and I dont think he will ever be the same fighter.

I wish him the best though and hope I'm wrong because he seem a top bloke hopefully a new trainer will kick start his career back to were he should be

Bute moved from Romania to the French speaking only Quebec province in Canada, so the trainer really helped him learn the language and integrate in the society and ofcourse grow as a pro since day 1. So yeh love is in the air.

His under whelming opposition speaks for it self and the Froch thing was a long time coming. But like you i wish him the best.

The trainer is not the reason he couldn't get off for 11 rounds was it? He's obviously gun shy and once that happens its a wrap for the world class level fighter.

                  I don't agree.

Larouche was never able to teach Lucian anything new -- Bute was boxing all this time the way he was taught in his youth...

Even before the Froch fight, I told Bute, I told one of his Romanian advisers that he has to change the trainer -- he badly needed some professional inside boxing and clinching techniques... Larouche knows nothing about such things... (I reiterated after the Froch fight...)

                  Too late now...

As the news read, it's Larouche who left Lucian -- he's the Montreal cash cow no more... Why I'm not surprised?
