Personally I don't see a problem with taking a soft touch for a first fight at a new weight, and I would argue Chavez isn't exactly a soft touch. If he fights Chavez and stays at SMW but doesn't fight Ward then yeah he's ducking. If he looks great and goes back to MW for anyone but Martinez you could also maybe consider it a duck. Also I'm not even getting into the promotional problems with making the Ward fight.

The difference is because stevenson is with al haymon his actions are immediately labeled ducking but GGG, who is on HBO he is given a pass by the vast majority here on NSB.
