As long as Martinez beats Cotto, this will probably happen. Martinez said recently that he wants to finish his HBO contract. I doubt HBO approves any fight for Martinez after Cotto but Golovkin. Sampson Lewkowicz also said Martinez would definitely fight Golovkin in the future. Assuming both Martinez and Golovkin win their upcoming fights, we'll probably see Martinez vs Golovkin in the fall. If Cotto does the impossible and beats Martinez, he'll probably fight Alvarez.Comment

funny how Team GGG said they'd fight anybody from 154-168. who called out who?
http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/box...-at-154160-168
"I don't recall the last time I heard a promoter offer to put his guy in against anyone at 154, 160 or 168 pounds, as Loeffler did.
"Andre Ward?" I asked.
"Maybe, yes," Golovkin said."
he said that last yearComment

Ward is still going through some lawsuit if I am not mistaken so he's not even available until whatever the issue with Ward and his contract/promoter is cleared up.

So, what would be the reason why Martinez can't fight GGG after the Cotto fight?Comment

Just cause he is a good boy doesnt mean there isnt a flipside to that coin??? Ggg the bad boy???maybe fighting in a fight of this magnitude may cause him to be out of character prior to the fight...you think he can handle the bright lights in the city of angels?Comment

So you want GGG to move up into the SMW division to fight one of the best fighters in the world with no tune up fight at SMW?
He only rehydrates to about 170 but we will see, I personally think he isnt quiet big enough for 168.Comment

Probably because Ward won't pay enough?
I remember GGG's camp agreeing to the fight if 50/50 is agreed upon but Ward wants the lion share of the purse. Besides, GGG's manager said that Jr. is a one fight deal and fighting @ 168 is not a campaign.
Money walks, BS talks..................or is it the other way around?Comment

Only reason would be if a bigger fight came along - Mayweather, Canelo
I don't care what GGG does. He made the best financial decision for himself by taking the highest paying fight at 168 against Chavez Jr. So his fans should stop complaining about Sergio doing the same thing with Cotto. You look idiotic.Comment
