  • Comments Thread For: Golovkin Targeting Sergio Martinez-Miguel Cotto Winner

Middleweight titleholder Gennady Golovkin is close to a deal that would pit him against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. at the Forum in Inglewood, Calif., on July 12. Tom Loeffler, who represents Golovkin’s promoter K2, previously stated on BoxingScene.com that such a bout would take place at 168 pounds and would be televised on HBO Pay-Per-View.

However, don’t call it a campaign. While Golovkin (29-0, 26 KOs) would be ascending eight pounds north of the 160-pound middleweight limit to face Chavez, Loeffler told BoxingScene.com on Wednesday that even in the event of a blowout victory, such a move would be temporary.

Not happening... Sergio is dead scared of Golovkin and so is his manager who admits they are ducking and that he doubts Sergio can win:

Cotto might actually have the balls though, he is a real man unlike this coward.

They know that Golovkin would end his life.

Cotto would atleast entertain the idea. Martinez aint fighting Golovkin!

          Anyways, GGG KOs both!

I say if Cotto wins and GGG vs Chavez jr. is for some type of 168 title Cotto might fight him to go for that 5th division title, but that is a dream pipe.

If Cotto wins he fights Canelo

If Martinez wins, he fights Rubio in Argentina and retires

GGG is "not ready" for Ward and his promoter thinks it would be "unfair"

But we'll fight Chavez Jr at 168 doe!

If a Ward fight paid as much as Chavez JR, i'd bet he'd be ready and would be fair

How crazy would it be if Cotto beats Sergio and then goes after GGG! If Canelo fights Lara and loses, Cotto GGG could be Miguel's best option at the end of the yr.

neither Martinez or cotto would fight golovkin, martinez already said last week golovkin needs more wins against better fighters, cotto isn't dumb to fight golovkin, martinez is old and probably will barely walk the night of the fight, golovkin is young and strong,if cotto wins he goes back down to face canelo,if Martinez wins he'll want to face mayweather or canelo
