    Double standards in boxing

I've noticed that on this board and elsewhere, people have been calling certain fighter cherry pickers, and duckers, and people wanting certain fighters to take on the most riskiest fights possible. But yet GGG picks one of the weakest 168 pounders in Chavez jnr, whose done nothing his entire career, but most GGG fans are ok with it despite Ward being the best 168 pounder-who was calling him out.You even have GGG groupies claiming that Ward ducked GGG so GGG chose Chavez instead .

Then you have Kovalev who was mandatory for Hopkins,he turned it down in favor of the mediocre Cleverly, but a lot of these most Kovalev fans said nothing about it,and swept the ducking under the same rug they swept GGG ducking of Ward-hoping nobody would find. But i have x-ray vision ya'll,so you people hoped for nothing. Now that Kovalev wants to fight Adonis but Adonis wants Hopkins first, and went over to SHowtime because Showtime gave him a better offer,a lot of these same Kovalev fans that said nothing about Kovalev ducking Hopkins are now saying Stevenson is ducking Kovelev-even though Hopkins is ranked above Kovalev.

Its sound like to me that most GGG and Kovalev fanboy chearleaders hate cherrypickers-just as long as its not GGG and Kovalev. It seem like most GGG and Kovalev fanboys want GGG and Kovalev to cherry-pick because these fanboys are not confident in GGG and Kovalev abilities, despite them acting like GGG and Kovalev is the best guys in their division. And i`m not talking about all GGG and Kovalev fans,i`m talking the fanboy groupie stan ones.

Kovalev fighting Cleverly was a good fight at the time. It was percived as 50/50 by most writers and many on this forum.

Golovkin yeah i would like to see him against ward if he plans to stay at 168. Im ok with Golovkin vs. Chavez Jr cause of three reasons:

      1) It is Golovkins first fight at 168.

      2) Destroying Chavez Jr. might hurt Martinez pride and make him fight Golovkin.

      3) It will be a war.

If Golovkin dosen't fight Martinez, Ward or winner of Froch vs. Groves after that i will be a bit disappointed.

          http://espn.go.com/blog/dan-rafael/p...ce-kovalev-but

the network, from what Hopkins said, is not interested in putting him on against Kovalev.

Yeah but when Mallingnagi was Broners first fight at 147,people act like Broner did a drive by shooting on them. The point is the double standards a lot of GGG and Kovalev fans have.If certain fighters did what GGG did in picking Chavez as his first fight at 168,a lot of GGG and Kovalev fans would have called him a cherrypicker or a ducker.

Just a bunch of foreigners backing their fighters vs American fighters nothing new.
They know Americans are the best fighters, so they must beat us in order to be the best. Not a double standard if you are willing to acknowledge the truth.

That is the real pop problem. HBO wants to do things on the cheap since herschman got there.

Yea, that's why they paid ward 2 mil and Edwin 1 mil.
