hopkins? many people felt that cal lost that fight. & even if you didn't feel he lost it no way was it a clear win. (& jermain taylor had done the same exact thing 4 years pryor) being rewarded a controversial decision over a older b hop is nothing special.....(it's not a great win) if you shut out, hurt, & clearly defeat that version of hopkins then thats a very good win. but that wasn't the circumstances at all..........

biases aside, calzaghe really is the greter fighter. ward's not yet retired though so he could still do something to surpass calzaghe. ward has the potential, it all depends on what course he will take for his career from hereon. seems like he's stucked though right now with not much activity and just waiting for fights against chavez jr or golovkin smh.

This in a nutshell. ATM, Calzaghe has a wide resume gap over Ward based on longevity.

It took Calzaghe 10 years to unify and become lineal champ.

Andre Ward did it within 3 years after winning his first belt.

Longevity is a brilliant career achievement when you've constantly fought top opposition, like Hopkins for such a long period. Staying at home beating bums does not count as longevity. It's a shame because Calzaghe could have moved up to LHW and mixed it with the likes of Hopkins, Tarver, Johnson, Jones Jr much earlier.

                    He wasn't interested.

I agree with most of the post but a win over Kessler, who Joe beat when he was better, an overrated Abraham and weight drained Dawson who got knocked out in his next fight does not eclipse Joe's whole career including the Hopkins triumph. No way. Sorry.
