Comments Thread For: CompuBox: Tony Thompson, 42, Throws 1,092 at Solis

Pitiful performance by the plodding heavyweight Olympic gold medal winner Odlanier Solis, who was more than doubled-up in punches thrown by the 42-yr-old veteran Tony Thompson, who averaged 91 punches thrown per round and outlanded Solis in eight of twelve rounds.

Nice to see compubox not counting punches that hit gloves for once.

Rounds 5-8 were very lop-sided in favor of Thompson. I can't really argue, because watching the fight I thought Solis was taking them off and giving them away like nothing.

Most of them were arm punches as he waited for opportunities to throw real ones. It's not like the 1000+ that say Pacquiao racked up vs Clottey/Margs where there was venom in the vast majority.

At least Tony turned up in shape. It won him the fight.

he wasn't in shape. he was a fat blob. he weighed 20 pounds more than when he was in his prime fighting against wlad. sure he was in better shape than solis the humpty dumpty man but everyone on the planet is.

Hell, all he had to do was flick out a few jabs and the occasional power shot. Solis wasn't interested in throwing anything back.
