Comments Thread For: Erik Morales Reveals That Hand Injury May End Career

Former four division world champion Erik Morales was scheduled to return to action tonight against Jorge Paez Jr., but he withdrew a few week ago with a severe right hand injury. Morales, 37, was going to make 2014 his final year in the sport and planned to have two farewell fights. But the injury to his right hand is more serious than he previously thought. His doctor has advised him that he needs to rest the hand for at least two months, and then Morales will find out if he's capable of recovering in time to have a fight this year.

Amazed he made it this far after the third Pac fight anyway. Getting into a shootout with Maidana and giving Garcia a good fight as far past it as he was for years? Sheeeeeit.

I mean this sucks and all, but he's a shot fighter at this point, and has been out of prime for a while, but this point I think he is full blown shot.

Morales-PAC 1... Definitely one of the best action fights of all time. Morales won a close fight. Unfortunately the accidental headbutt in round 5 played a factor in the fight. Manny couldn't see fully after that... Morales took several rounds right after as the cut above the eye bloodied. PAC wasn't a complete fighter at this point. But whatever, these guys put on a great show.

Either way, that fight was CLASSIC. loved it!

Morales beat 15 different world champions (as per wiki).. .easily hall of famer. ATG in the lower divisions. His current record doesn't reflect how good he was.

Morales should hold hands together with JMM and retire! After fighting Pacman they should retire but ...

                    Excuses, excuses.

Morales didn't just beat Manny in that fight - He beat him up. Going so far as to taunt Manny throughout the fight with that ****** "put my gloves in the air" BS Manny used to do after getting tagged, and then turning southpaw in the 12th round in the ultimate show of disrespect.

A lot of Pacquiao fans think that was Erik's way of "giving" them something, like a chance for Manny to knock him down...it wasn't. It was Morales boldly switching to a stance that he couldn't even fight in and going toe-to-tow with Pacquiao, basically saying "you can't even beat me with an advantage."

                    Ballsy stuff.

Hope Erik's healing process goes as smoothly as possible. Retirement, shot to ****, past prime - Whatever you want to throw out there, don't forget legend.
