As good as Matthysse is, Martinez is far more proven than is Matthysse. And Cotto is far less proven at 160 than Garcia is at 140.

I agree that Martinez is going a bit overboard. I highly doubt a middleweight version of Cotto is the best fighter Martinez has fought.

Indeed. One is a gigantic middleweight with an iron chin and a fairly hard punch, the other is a natural welterweight who has been hurt by welterweights and shown an inability to badly hurt top 154 lbers (except an injured Yuri Foreman. Still a good victory though).

martinez's best win was pavlik who before the fight was almost killed by an allegric reaction to antibiotics and had to be hospitalized plus he was an alchoholic bum. the hail mary punch he threw against williams was just lucky. chavez, jr. is a walking punching bag who happens to know how to punch. and finally, martinez's last fight against murray was mediocre at best.

He's spot on...Martinez isn't a great Boxer. Just look at his stance and his technique. It almost got him KTFO by Chavez Jr. no less. He is of course a great athlete and he is slick, tricky, evasive and has speed but again he is NOT a great Boxer. Those who don't see this reality simply don't want to see it. Last -i don't think Roach was being disrespectful in his comment. He was just stating the facts. Cotto will have his hands full and it will be a competitive fight.

Agree 100% on your "Hail Mary" punch comment. I don't even think he knew he threw it. Pure luck.
