Looks like a safe opponent with a great record for Thurman. GBP n Al Haymon keep saying no one wants to fight Thurman and i keep saying this guy does

Texas-based slugger Roberto “La Amenaza” Garcia (34-3, 22 KOs), fresh off an exciting and impressive ESPN-televised victory over Mexico’s Norberto “Demonio” Gonzalez on February 7, says he’s dropping down to his natural weight of 147 lbs to begin campaigning as a welterweight.

Garcia, who came into the fight against Gonzalez as a late substitute opponent, revived his career with his controlled, pressuring performance. He has now set his sights on obtaining a title shot against one of the current champions including IBF Champion Shawn Porter and especially interim WBA World Champion Keith Thurman.

It's a shame Thurman is avoided but his promoter should be able to get somebody better than this. Hopefully the WBA strip the Mayweather-Maidana winner if they don't defend against Thurman in their next fight but that's not gonna happen. They'll probably just create a new belt or something.

The WBA have had an interim welterweight champion since May 2010 without ever ordering a title shot for the holder

A lot of avoided fighters try to fight their way up the ranking of one of the organisations in the hope or getting a mandatory shot eventually. But doing this with the WBA seems pointless as in several division they just allow the champion to do whatever they feel like.

I think its the same with all the orgs. Pulev has been no.1 with IBF for ages and Degale should have a shot at WBC just off the top of my head. Im sure there are exampleswith the WBO. If you dont bring in money I wouldnt expect any favours
