Pac has a great offense, but if a guy does not oblige him and stand around he has real problems making his offense work at it's peak.


Floyd on the other hand takes guys out of their plan and really his defense makes everyone he faces less than they normally are. Plus from an orthodox fighter defense like Floyd has is not that common at all, not that Pacquiao's offense is common among lefties but Floyd's sort of defense is very rare for righties.

These things go hand in hand. It's impossible to rate ones offense without rating their defense as well. Take Hopkins in his prime, he was an offensive machine but left very little openings. Pacquiao does have underrated defense, I've always said this but he can be timed when he lunges in, though one would have to possess a lot of skill to take advantage of that.

Why do people make these threads? so we can count how many Floyd fans and Pac fans there are?

Pacquiao has great athletic ability as we all know. His offensive game is not that strong however and for years relied on a simple jab, jab, straight left. He has improved somewhat with the angles but he never sustained this.

Floyd has great reflexes which help his D. But Floyd's defense is great by itself. he is a master of defensive technique.

Which is greater? Floyd's by absolute miles

Which is more effective? Well that is completely relative to the fighter they are facing, but one would have to back Floyd as his D has never failed while Pac's attack has been nullified a few times.

But it's close and there is no need to insult either fighter.

I don't see how you can compare the two. Pac gets off his amazing offense because of his foot work, which is defense. And vice versa with Floyd, his punches hurt enough to make you gun shy.
