Can someone tell me why Joe Louis is higher than Foreman, and why is he number 1?

Nigel Benn is far far too low, Julian Jackson at 25? What a Joke.
because it isnt a list of punching power it is a list of best punchers which louis arguably was.

        Foreman is the heaviest puncher....

With the possible exception of Earnie Shavers. So it depends on what you look out, e.g. KO percentages, one-punch stopping power, biggest fighters (who obviously punch harder than smaller fighters), etc.

Because its not the hardest puncher, its the best puncher, Foreman has good power, but what about his speed? it has to be everything, louis is the best puncher, no doubt.

But i just wonder why isnt Muhammad Ali in that list? he had speed, power, stamina, good technique..

i have this magazine. it says why some fighters are ranked higher than others:

they ranked these fighters on a p4p basis. for example: earnie shavers was a much much harder puncher than sandy saddler, but saddler was a much much better all around fighter, which is what merits him a higher ranking than shavers.

It makes more sense now that you explained this, but if that was their justification for the list they should not have called it "Greatest P4P PUNCHERS"

i disagree. the name suits the article well.

the name of the article is called "the p4p greatest punchers" not the "p4p hardest hitters". foreman hit harder than louis, yes. but louis was a better puncher.

being a good puncher doesnt matter how hard you hit, its how well and how often you hit.

Foreman's hands were heavier than Joe Louis'. But Joe's punches were so much more explosive.
Joe Louis was more likely to take a guy out with one punch than was Foreman. He was also a better finisher.

Foreman punches a brick wall....the wall collapses.

Louis punches a brickwall. His fist goes through the wall, perfectly.

"Puncher" to me does not have anything to with how often you hit, but the precision, accuracy an effect of the punch.

I agree with Louis being higher than foreman, BC Louis' punches were accurate precise and had more affect, while foreman was slightly sloppy with his wide heavy punches.
