Joke of a list like most of their rankings are a joke...

Rigondeaux and Mikey's positions are ridiculous!! Even Chuck Giampa is is laughing at this list...

Chocolatito Gonzalez isn't even in their top 100 P4P. Yep, it's that bad.
Exactly, Chocolatito is a top 10 guy and hes not even there!!

Actually whilst I'd never treat the the Boxrec P4Ps as a 'legitimate ' or overarching list, it's as good as many lists that are provided on discussion sites, cos in the main fans often have a preferential (biasd) view, often considering fighters who are popular - usually those who fight in the money divisions 140-154 - above those who have more significant achievements elsewhere in the sport.

Boxrec rankings are frequently debatable or just plain wrong in individual cases, but in the end give a result which is not hugely different from a consensus version of either a top 20 in each division or a top 20 P4P.

As with any other resource, Boxrecs limitations need to be understood, but for what it is I think they;ve done a pretty good job - better at least than any other computerised (ie impartial) system I've yet to see.

Boxrec uses official data like judges scores to come up with it's rankings. As we all know judges get it wrong all the time (scores too wide etc) so the computer rankings can only be as good as the judges.

It is the whole garbage in garbage out thing.

What statistic from boxing can you put in that is 100% clear cut and reliable. If there are no solid numbers you can't make a solid formula, and in boxing every single number is always under attack (rightly or wrongly).

In sports driven by stats you can come up with advanced formulas to at least attempt to rate guys and even then they are somewhat questionable (baseball for example which is the best numbers sport because no numbers are really cheap and the fairly large sample sizes, but in WAR they take into account defense and how do you get a real number for rating defense)

But Garcia's points went down as well.

What in the hell.... No one from 12-25 should be behind GGG minus Quillin and Brook. Canelo @ 6? Hmm.. makes me wonder how big of a glitch there must've been.

His points went down because he had a close decision win over an opponent who was ranked much lower.
