      these contemporary "title belts" only cover a portion of the history of the sport. they often have very little value in a historic context.


      a champion in 2014 and a champion in 1934 are not the same thing.

          You have a title = you are a world champ. Period.

          There's no discussion beyond that.

          Undisputed and lineal champs are a different story.

            Yes its not the same thing because today boxing is more of a global sport with challengers coming from all over and on consistent basis.

            Also with that logic we should then disregard the NBA title winning celtics from 61 cuz there were only 8 teams and players were not as well rounded/skilled.
