Harder Hitter: Matthyse or Maidana?

Who do you guys say the bigger puncher is. I know Matthyse and Maidana have the exact same number of fights and a similar KO ratio but who would you guys say is the bigger puncher?

I always thought it was Maidana but people seem to be giving him no chance against Floyd while some of those same people were giving Matthyse a chance against Floyd before his fight with Garcia.

What do you guys think?

I think Matthysse punches with better technique, doesn't put everything into his shots and still gets huge power. Whereas Maidana puts a lot more body weight behind his shots and gets even more power.

Maidana is the harder puncher on eye test Imo. I hope to never have to find out

both seemingly devestating punchers but it's difficult to say who hits harder when you haven't been hit by either of them. maidana being able to beat down and crack karass, who has an iron chin, at a higher weightclass is pretty impressive though. maidana edges it for me based on that.

Maidana has more animalistic strength than Matthysse, if that makes sense.

Maidana is the closest thing a human can get to being an animal. The guy fights and looks like a bull.

Maidana punches harder, in my opinion. I say this because I think Maidana could knockout Danny Garcia, whereas Lucas came close but ultimately could not.

Also, Maidana overpowered Matthysse three times in the amateurs.

Also Maidana throws more punches, is a better brawler, and has a better resume.

I like Lucas a lot but I don't think he has the sheer power in a single punch to get this type of reaction from an iron-chinned opponent. Note: this was caused by a single right hand.




Another thing, Maidana is a filled-out welterweight now. Whereas Lucas is a small 140-pounder still, who I don't think can move up (well, maybe).

Not to take anything away from Matthysse. They're both great fighters.

I think Matthysse is the sharper, one-punch type of fighter, whilst Maidana has that thudding power.

Picked Matthysse, but there's not much between them.

I think Matthysse, definitely. He's also better technician, more of a classic boxer and has much better footwork, while Maidana is physically stronger, more awkward and smarter.

Maybe but Maidana moves his head more. Matthysse moves his head but Chino changes head slots more.
