Both are great natural power punchers. Maidana has a higher workrate but still throws most punches with bad intentions but seems to be a bit less accurate then Matthysse who seems to try and place his punches a bit more. Also adding to Maidanas power is the unpredictability of his punches, they are harder to see coming and brace for which adds to their ability to hurt you. Matthysse is really heavy handed but his punches are a bit predictable. Despite that they seem to be able to have effect even if they are partially blocked sometimes. I don't know who has better one punch power, i would guess Matthysse but it's probably not much difference.

It's hard to say. Maidana is naturally bigger and I think hits harder at 147, but P4P I think Matthysse hits harder.

Matthysse by far. He's basically one of the hardest hitters of all time.

Matthyse's power comes from his technique and he can alternate between thudding shots and explosive ones. Maidana is very heavy-handed and before hooking up with Garcia, he reminded me of Mayorga. Horrible accuracy, but always throwing with fight-changing power. Since he's stopped legitimate welters, I gotta give the edge to Maidana.
