    Scap.....

I think this is going to be a more competitive fight than many (Lacy-backers) are predicting.
There's a lot in this fight that Lacy has not yet faced before-
Joe's quick hands, firing out of a lefty stance....Joe's experience.....& fighting way overseas.

Ultimately...I see Lacy's tenacity & power getting to Calzaghe as the rounds go by. Lacy will stop him around the tenth.

Personally, I can't stand how Calzaghe has handled his career. But, I know he's no stiff in the ring.

Got to agree here, Calzaghe is no mug believe me, Lacy is a good fighter but inexperienced, I'm not saying Lacy cannot win becuase he can but watch Calzaghe he is really talented, like a lot of fighters he lacks self motivation in fights, this is not the case in this fight, he will up his game again and Lacy is in for some fight.

Got to give Lacy respect for coming to the UK to fight Joe though, gone up in my estimation for that alone!

I dont like how he has hadled his career either, it wouldnt bother me in the slightest if I thought he was a Paul Spadafora or a Sven Ottke...it bothers the **** out of me because the son of a ***** can fight.

        But...

Who should he have faced? Do you think even if he had come over to the states that Bernard Hopkins was going to fight him?

Do you think Roy was ever serious about fighting him?

He is to blame for not coming over here there is no doubt but what career defining fights were out there for Joe? (its not like if he would have gone over to Germany and KO'd Ottke in 5 rounds anyone would give him credit right?)

I completely agree with all the above. And just to clarify for everyone, i have tremendous respect for Calzaghe and i'm not just assuming Lacy will dominate here. It should be a very good fight that i feel Lacy will come out victorious, with respect to both fighters equally.

Thats just it! they came close to getting Hopkins, Joe should have spat his dummy out once he didnt get that fight because Joe would definetely have beaten Hopkins at that time if he did it would have changed the entire complexion of his career. I wish they got Ottke as well just for the hell it, I actually admire Ottke the man was so obviously limited yet reigned for so long which in itself just goes to show how weak the Super middleweight division was. People are super critical of Joe but at the end of the day Hopkins and Jones, he missed out on, there was no one else, even if he fought and beat Glen Johnson he wouldnt get alot of credit since he had already been beaten 10 times.

Im with ya here, had Joe of beaten Glenn Johnson no one would have cared and the same goes for Sven Ottke too.

The only 2 fights out there that would have made a difference were Hopkins and Jones...and if I remember correctly Hopkins pulled out of a deal with Showtime to fight Joe.

Regardless of who pulled out of what fights and who was ducking who Hopkins and Jones were it for Joe and if you follow boxing which is just about everybody on this site then you no how difficult it is to get Nard and Roy in the ring.

I will not go as far as to absolve Joe completely-he could have come to the states but chose not too.

He always talked about leaving Cardiff but thats all that happened was talk-I love Clazaghe but he cannot be left off the hook completely just like he cannot be blamed completely which is the MO of most American boxing fans.

Joe does say himself that he is Lazy. To be honest Joe has always been my favourite fighter basically on sky he is what we've been fed for years, well him and Hatton, but Calzaghe appeals to me more he is awesome on his day. I have only seen Lacy once though im just glad he has a big rep, if he beats Joe then he is awesome, because Joe is going to be just as hungry for this, Gary Shaw has rattled him and the **** he gets from Americans critics must stick in his throat, he'll want to make a statement, if he loses everyone outside the UK is going to write him off.

I dont think he stops Lacy unless it is a bad stoppage (ala Bryan Mitchell) but I like his far superior hand speed and his underrated HEART and I think regardless of what many say the class of fighters he has been in with certainly outweighs that of the still very green Jeff Lacy.

Plus we are talking about fighting at his place...Joe has been disrespected and disrespected and then disrespected some more which is fin- alot of it has been deserving...but...

He will win this fight because Lacy is good but not half as good as people are making him out to be, he will win this fight because he is good...**** that he is a helluva lot better than people (most of which have barely seen him) have made him out to be.

                      Joe ****ing Calzaghe baby!

Lets go Joe...I just wanted to let you know that you have some support even in the US-any other Americans pulling for Calzaghe or am I the only diphsit?
sometimes heart cant overcome raw power.

                      ala foreman fraizer
not that this fight will be anything like that, but if lacy drops joe once, he will finish the fight
