Calzaghe is a live guy in this fight. Lacy can easily be outboxed. a good jab and angles could be frustrating for Lacy, and Calzaghe has boxing skills, but he also like to trade and that I think will be to Lacy's advantage.

a boxer with movement and an in and out style would give Lacy a test of his patients and also make him look bad if it was done correctly. Lacy likes to follow guys and not cut the ring off, I love his pressure but sometimes he gets led along a bit. He's always on the hunt, so he can be on the receiving end of pot shots. no one has fought lacy like that though, at least not as their game plan and certainly not the length of the fight. it could be pulled off.

Calzaghe has a bit of that in him, but he likes to mix it up a bit and that is where he'll give Lacy a chance to hit him. it'll give Lacy a chance to land a hard shot on the inside, and Joe doesn't want to do that. I know Joe can take a punch, but it isn't wise to eat a Lacy punch if you can help it.

I'm hyped about this fight, I wanna see who wants it more. Usually i go with the puncher, because a lot of times the boxer gets out his game plan and tries to **** with the puncher(maybe to prove something) and gets either knocked out or eats a lot of unnecessary punches and/or loses big on the cards.
    BUT!!!
this time for me it's a pick'em. i want Lacy to win, but i'm going against my norm and am picking Calzaghe on pts.

may the best fighter win, they should handicap this because it's on Calzaghe's turff....lol

This in my judgement is a pretty good mother****ing post!

Joe will need to mix it up and make Jeff follow him catching him with shots from the outside...but Joe will also need to do some trading at times and he needs to be clever enough to trade at times when Lacy is not necesarily ready to trade (catch him off guard).

1 of my fears as a Joe fan is that he will be to willing to brawl as he normally is...once Joe tastes leather he will sometimes let his fight plan go right out the window and start to brawl...he needs to show some dicipline in this fight, it will make it much easier on him (the less dicipline Calzaghe shows the greater the fight will be...obviously).

I also think Joe's STRENGTH is being underrated a bit here, were not talking about some ***** who if he does decide to trade is going to get thrown around the ring like a rag doll, I will be very curious to see when the two men are in close who is in fact the stronger of the two...at this point Im not willing to say Lacy is like many do.

      Good post deuce.

So Im not Nosterdomus...it wasnt like Wlad fans were cheering in the streets after he fought Peter-all the questions we had about him going into that fight with Sam still exist.

          1) he has a bad chin and questionable stamina

          2) he has a great offesnsive arsenal

He is going to win some more fights for sure but he will always be vulnerable everytime he steps in the ring-point is Wlad is not the guy I had hoped he was, I think you can agree on that.

...I can agree with you 100% sir!!! Except the part about Wlad's bad chin. Still not sure about that. IMO the Peter knockdons were not necessarily chin issues and the only person to really dent that chin is Sanders. Lets not confuse balance and stamina issues with the weak chin.

Stamina or chin??? I dont really care if you classify Wlad as being china chineed or you take another route and classify him as just having a stamina issue.

The point is he has serious trouble keeping his feet and weather it is his stamina that is to blame or his chin does it really matter? A knockdown is a knockdown right?

He can't take a punch, period. This doesn't mean you hit him & instantly falls down.
But...it does meant that when he's hit, disaster of some kind looms.
