garcia wasn't hitting matthysse with anything big until he poked matthysse in the eye. he had a half blind opponent, got away with more lowblows then golota, got a dubious rabbit punch inspired knockdown against a defenseless guy in the ropes, and had the ref on his side. with all this he won by 2 points and refuses to fight a rematch.

Before the eye, Matthysse was taking control, after the eye he fell behind by a few rounds and then he started coming on strong again near the end of the fight. There was a reason why Danny wasn't interested in a rematch.

You don't gotta rematch everyone. Tim knows this that's why he won't rematch Ruslan. You've been talking a lot for a guy who's favorite fighter received the gift decision of the century two yrs ago.

Its not like Matthysse was dominating before the swelling. Danny was boxing him well.

Anyway, that fight showed that Matthysse wasn't the unstoppable Juggernaut people made him out to be. I would be interested in seeing a rematch considering how much hype the fight got. Then again, if Matthysse was "screaming" for a rematch, I'm unaware of it.

I agree with this from what I recall I had Garcia winning before the eye I haven't watched the fight since the ppc but i voted no. I'd still like to see a rematch though

Im not asking for excuses I said it was a tough fight and deserved a rematch. Eye swelling low blows were a factor. No bias here if it would have happened the other way around I would say the same

But.... Mathysse wasn't winning the fight anyway when that eye started closing, it wasn't from a headbutt or anything, it was a clean punch. Garcia just beat him, not much else to say. Great fight nonetheless.
