Danny fought poor, Herrera very good. But my boxing scorecard app at the end showed I had scored it a draw.Comment

It was obviously a close fight whoever you had winning.
I've not said Danny won the fight clearly or by a comfortable margin so I don't know what the last outburst is about.Comment

How did Herrera "clearly" win? Which 7 rounds did Herrera "clearly" win?
I see 30% (almost) of Boxing writers didn't score it for Herrera. That's interesting that's the first time I've read that.
I wonder what the average scorecards were either way for this fight because I'm going to doubt that very many were wide either way.Comment

Yeah. I mean it's a very hard fight to score, almost every round was a case of neither man doing very impressive or effective work.
This is how I scored it.
Round 1 - Garcia - Close. Feel out for both
Round 2 - Herrera - Close
Round 3 - Garcia - Very close
Round 4 - Garcia - Very close. Garcia had a better first half, Herrera the better of the second half.
Round 5 - Herrera - Close..Again. Herrera doing more and landing more but still not really dominant
Every round so far, neither have clearly won any of the rounds
Round 6 - Garcia. Nothing effective from either. Gave it Garcia because his punches were hard and solid (Albeit seldom) whereas Herrera landed some solid jabs but he wasn't as effective as he was in earlier rounds with it.
Round 7 - Garcia. Almost a carbon copy of Round 6. A lot of these rounds could easily go for Herrera.
So out of the first 7 Rounds I struggle to see a clear round for either man. Perhaps the 5th for Herrera.
Round 8 - Herrera. Probably the clearest Round thus far. Still not a "Dominant" round really
Round 9 - Herrera, clear round.
Round 10 - Garcia. Best round of the fight. Both doing good work. Garcia IMO having the slight better work but still an either way round
Round 11 - Garcia - clear
Round 12 - Herrera - clear.
So final score 115-113 for Garcia.
Easily could have been a draw and could obviously very easily have been a Herrera win with the amount of extremely close rounds.
I've been away for the last week so I've literally just watched the fight about an hour ago.
I was genuinely expecting Herrera to dominate about 8 or 9 rounds. Considering the "robbery claims".
I want to know 7 rounds than Herrera clearly won because I cannot see it.
Maybe I'll watch it again one day and score it differentComment

Thanks. I thought I saved my scorecard so I was going to compare but turns out i didnt. but I think its the early rounds where we differ. Although I can see them being close in punches landed I think Herrera was the controlling pace of the fight and fighting the fight he wanted. I guess it boils down to how you see it. My Scorecard ended up 116-113 (7-4, with 1 even)
Maybe I'll watch it again one day and score it different
I mean, which rounds did Herrera clearly win? The only one's I see are the 12th and the 9th. They were the only rounds were Herrera was impressive IMO.
You could argue the 8th and perhaps the 5th but even those weren't one sided rounds.
Look at your card, you have 7-4 with one even, more than respectable. But you cannot tell me that that even round and one other round on your card couldn't have gone the other way. And that makes your card a draw.Comment
