Jabs are easy to discount, but its clear Harrerra had the momentum in the fight.. his jabs were marking danny up. You could see Danny deflate from a straight right.. or was it a jab? In the 12th. He shrugged his shoulders but it was almost in despair. Danny had no answers.. I look for not only rounds.. but who is the one that was mentally and/or spiritually beaten by the end...

    Danny lost.

I really gotta rewatch this one. Majority are saying that Mauricio got robbed bad. I was fine with it being a draw.Or 7 to 5 either way.

Fack! Clicked Garcia meant Herrera! Poll should read 236 Herrera to 27 Garcia after my vote.

Some people are claiming it was a close fight to try to justify the controversy but it wasn't even a close fight, Herrera won by wide margin.

judges usually dont score even rounds, along with that, the 4th(for example) which i gave to herrera, should that have gone to garcia along with the even round, 116-112

dont see the problem, except that they should score more even rounds
I also believe the judges should score more even rounds, there's nothing in the rule book which says you have to give every round to one guy or the other.

The issue is that I don't see either boxer winning 8 rounds.

Personally, I think I also gave the 4th to Harrera.

I don't see a problem with scoring the occasional even round, but the Association of Boxing Commissions (for example) discourages "multiple even rounds." Really, when you think about it, how many truly even rounds could there be in one fight?

I think the AoBC is wrong, there are many fights I have covered in over 3 decades in this sport where some rounds within a fight have been too close to call, yet there is this misunderstanding where people believe they have to score it for someone and end up scoring it for the wrong person for the wrong reasons.

I have spoken to multiple journalists and judges who have often said, that in hindsight, they wished they had scored some rounds even as it would have changed the complexion of fights altogether.

In terms of the Harrera/Garcia bout, there were many rounds which were very close, a couple could have been scored a draw. In these rounds, Garcia was the more accurate and harder puncher but Harrera was busier and had a better jab. Two effective methods which cancel each other out. Of course this is all opinion.

I hate even rounds. They feel lazy. Only in the most extreme cases, where neither guy throws any punches or something, should there be even rounds. If punches were thrown, someone was better that round and should be rewarded for it.

Much of what you're saying is certainly true and insightful. I can't argue with someone with as much experience in an official capacity as yourself. I can only offer my own opinion, which I think holds some logical value.

In my relatively limited experience, there seem to be only occasional rounds that can't be scored decisively. The bolded statement below, echoes my sentiments. If punches are thrown, they are rarely exchanged in the same quantity and with the same power. The main scoring criteria are the number and effectiveness of punches landed. Since we're human, and the nature of the sport is hectic, it sometimes becomes difficult to judge. But someone usually wins a round, if even by one punch.
