Duran had a sick career at 135, which had tons of greats.

He also was able to accomplish some great things above his regular weight (Ray Leonard at 147).

He won a title at 168, starting from 135, which is also bat**** insane IMO.

I don't think Pacquaio will or even can pass Duran.

Today's fighters will never beat the Ray Robinson's, because of the complete lack of dedication that previous fighters had. When you fight twice a year, you are going to have a hard time matching the accomplishments of guys who fought 5 or 6 times a year.

I think this type of topic will be very interesting for people to debate in 20 or 30 years. Pac's legacy will probably never be considered better than Duran because of the amazing comp. he fought. But in boxing like in all sports athletes are always seen in a much greater way than when they are still active.

What if Pacman goes for a legitimate Jr. welterweight title this year? Like Timothy Bradley (WBC)? Or Andreas Kotelnik (WBA)? Or Paulie Malinaggi (IBF)? Or the guy that you like Pacman to fight, Kendall Holt (WBO)? Winning three (3) belts from 3 different weight classes in one calendar year has never been done before, nor has been attempted, I think. Would that be enough?

I love Duran except for his "No Mas", that's the only black mark on his resume'. I assure you and everyone else here that you won't see this happening from Pacman, he'd rather die than quit, even if things aren't going his way...

The old school boxers have all the chances in the world to win 3 titles in 3 different weight classes in 1 calendar year since like what you said, they're used to fighting 5 or more times a year. I think only Henry Armstrong won 2 belts in 2 different divisions in 1 calendar year, but I may be wrong though.

But guess what? Pacman has a chance to win 3 different belts from 3 different weight classes in 1 calendar year, were the days of fighting as much as you can is already passe, specially if we're talking about a boxer of Pacquiao's status. If he opts to fight any of these 4 champions (Bradley, Kotelnik, Malinaggi or Holt) this year and win, he will be the ONLY boxer in history to have done that, correction, the ONLY BOXER to attempt that! But that's assuming Pacman wins a belt at jr. welterweight division.

Duran went up in weight gradually, but I guess Pacman didn't get the memo...

We won't have a definitive answer until Pacquiao's career is over but as stated earlier in the thread, Duran started at 118 but still managed to be competitive all the way up to light heavyweight, it's going to be very hard for Pacquiao is supercede that.

I know it's hard to supercede Duran's accomplishments because Duran's career has ATG written all over it, except for his copped out against SRL. But what if Pacman wins a third title in three different weight divisions in ONE CALENDAR YEAR, would it amount to something?
