I wonder do fans of other sports openly laugh at the prospect of poor tv ratings? Getting that attached to one boxer is ******ed, just enjoy the sport.

When you consider that both fighters were coming off losses, those are good numbers. Also the undercard was very weak.

For his first PPV as the "main guy", that's solid imo.

Those are great numbers imo. Because of what u mentioned but think about this. JMM a long time star, coming off of his career defining KO win over Pacquiao and Tim Bradley coming off of a fight of the year performance vs Ruslan, together did about 300k-350k buys.

          Great point.

This is a real dissapointment. After being responsible for pulling in 2.2 million PPV buys against a run-first, hit-later nobody named Mayweather in his last fight, Alvarez only draws 350,000 (translation: actual number is 200,000) against this much more popular come-foward slugger.

I don't understand this drop in numbers......unless it is possible that Alvarez wasn't responsible for the success of the Mayweather PPV. Of course, none of the geniuses who post on this site will believe that, but it is obviously true.

I can see him fighting Peter Quillin but where does he go from there? I dont think hes "The next big thing" in Boxing. Just because hes only 23 doesnt mean he HASNT peaked, he just started fairly early. He DID look good and clearly hes an intelligent fighter but I just see him losing more than winning in potential matchups in the future. Then again he could quite possibly be the next De la Hoya and be a huge draw despite losing ALL of this big fights.
The Lara fight is an intriguing fight and will eventually happen. Stop acting like he's a fraid to take a challenge. HE JUST FOUGHT FLOYD AT A DAMN CATCHWEIGHT!

The Lara fight is intriguing to hardcore fans, but there are a lot of even harcore fans don't like his style and consider him boring!!!!!! That is not gonna appeal to a casual fan. Nobody knows who he is.

Lara doesn't have much to offer and is no power psition, besides as easily as Lara got hit and hurt by Angulo it may serve him better to take this fight sooner than later.

The fight is gonna happen, it just doesnt have to be the next fight.

Its his first PPV as young as he is with a **** undercard! You seem to forget the fact that Matthyse vs Garcia was also on the Canelo vs Floyd undercard.

Whats so hard to understand!!!! You have guys like Tim Bradley or Marquez who cant do those types of numbers on there own.

When Lara fought Angulo it was the main event and half the arena was empty.

What other young star outside of Canelo draws the way he does? Who else could have put 40,000 people in the Alamo dome.

Chavez Jr is a huge name in Mexican boxing and he did poor attendance his last fight.

                  Give this dude his props

What ever happened to Canelo's other 2 mill buyers of his previous PPV since Canelo was the reason Floyd broke yet another PPV record?
