Yes. Sure Mexicans are big fans and support a lot their fighters. This is excellent and I honestly congratulates you guys for that.
But I really disagree in the fights last weekend had. The fight between Canelo and Angulo was pointless because everybody knew for Canelo was an easy fight. Also Santa Cruz should accept bigger challenges. I want to see Canelo doing real fights like GGG, Lara or Kirkland. My favorite of course Lara. While they continue to make those silly fights only Mexicans will be interest, or someone with money to buy and nothing else to see. That's not my case LOL

      I am a Floyd fan, but when comparing the two, you have to remember***8230;

      1) Mayweather has been established for 17 years
      2) Mayweather is undefeated
      3) Mayweather plays the villain that people want to see lose
      4) Mayweather has been a good marketer for himself
      5) Mayweather fights are bigger experiences than just the fight itself
      6) Mayweather is more known
      7) Mayweather has more money and promotion put behind his big fights
      8) Mayweather has a business plan of fighting on two dates in the year that people anticipate and that Mexican boxing fans (which is a major market) tune into.

      Canelo is a "rising" star.

      1) Canelo has been fighting since early-mid teens and has over 40 fights, yes***8230;but that doesn't mean he's been the spotlight for all of those years.
      2) He had his first PPV coming off a disappointing loss (I bet those numbers would be different had he KO'd Floyd)
      3) Mayweather's first PPV wasn't 2 million, so why should Canelo's?

      Oscar DeLaHoya's first PPV buys:

      1. Rafael Ruelas (5/95) 330,000 buys = $9.9 million
      2. Genaro Hernandez (9/95) 220,000 buys = $6.6 million
      3. Miguel Angel Gonzalez (1/97) 345,000 buys = $12.1 million

      Why should Canelo's be 800k-1.2million?
      4) Canelo's stock has simply dropped because he lost to Mayweather. As he keeps winning and has some more big fights that are entertaining and/or major victories, he will look like a major threat again and people will pay to see him
      5) Canelo doesn't speak English and isn't a big trash talker so he may not sell tickets in America so quickly.

Simply put***8230;Mayweather's been building his star brand for years, Canelo is just starting his.

Pretty good, who can he face next though if it's on PPV again? I'll be surprised if Lara is PPV

That's a pretty strong start coming off a loss. I'm not gonna sit here and advocate for more PPV's, but it was nice to have a fresh face headline one. I knew about a couple groups of ppl who had fight parties for this one..wasn't quite like may or september, but sounds like Canelo fight nights will be something to look forward to in the future. any excuse to get loaded mane

950k bought May-Hatton on December 2007. May-Mosley sold 1.4Million, those were two Americans. Neither had a "good" undercard.

Alvarez before the PPV count received only 1.25 millions (of which he gave 100K to Angulo for raising the weight limit), thus if the PPV share statement is true then Saul should be making around 12 million which would be really a lot.

not bad, considering canelo just came off a loss.

If they can put Canelo-Angulo on ppv coming off that performance against Floyd, they can certainly put Canelo-Lara on PPV coming off him whomping on Angulo. I don't see why they wouldn't think they could do as good, probably not a lot better though~

Which is why I would assume they would want a similar deal structure to the Angulo fight though with low base pay with high upside.

Solid numbers for two guys coming off losses, one off a shutout loss, and one off a stoppage loss. Pac vs Rios had the much more established star and that did 450k. It looks like they think he can reach De La Hoya stardom level but I dont think so.
