Can Wlad surpass Joe Louis' record for longest HW title reign?

All he needs is 4 more years and he will have the longest reign in Heavyweight history.

Of course Louis at 25 consecutive title defenses is a big and most likely impossible feat to best for Klitschko who is sitting at 15 consecutive title defenses.

Just goes to show how special Joe Louis' records are. Even in one of the weakest eras ever for the heavyweight division Wlad still has a long way to go to catch him.

And he might never get there.

Being a titlist is different. Louis was undisputed champion the whole reign. Something that is not done today nor is the importance of it understood.

if he doesn't retire, Wlad will beat that reign
not in terms of prestige obviously, but simply the length of the reign?
nobody is gonna beat Wlad again, barring skullduggery of some kind
if he's still fighting in 4 yrs, he'll still have his streak going

there was less fragmentation. back then there were no ibf or wbo titles, nevermind the rest of the poloitics. the man is the man. he has been since the chagaev win.

He did become champion when he beat Chagaev. 9 fights and almost 5 years ago. He needs 17 more wins and 8 years to beat Louis's record.

Majority of HW eras have been weak by that logic then. You dudes don't like to give credit where it's due.

Since you mentioned Louis, he's a good example on favoritism. People like you most likely give Louis credit for beating Shmeling because of the hype but forget that he got his ass whooped by him before. It's like he never lost to him.

                    Many historians would differ.
#1 beating #2 will get the vacant Ring belt but you can't be the "one" if there more than one and it is disputed. Being the best and one of many do not make you the one, only the best.

That was the way it was thought of until recent times and when people wanted to have lineal champions without unifying.
An example of how it is supposed to work, Mayweather was possibly the best welterweight but didn't become lineal til he beat Baldomir. Baldomir achieved that by beating Judah who beat Spinks. Spinks, the IBF champion won recognition at lineal by beating Mayorga who had the WBC and WBA belts. Hence "undisputed". I could easily come up with many lineal champions in history that earned recognition only by being undisputed.
